The garden begins!

Happy Easter! Well that was the weekend we rushed to the garden centre sales to buy some fruit trees.
And then things just became busy and we just couldn't think of where to plant the 5 fruit trees we had just bought. Four months later we made a decision and they are finally happily ( we hope) in the ground.
It was a stunning day today. Perfect for planting. Thanks to the Parker aunties and uncles for helping us out with our first trees. Once they were in the ground we were motivated to tidy up all of the "useful junk " around the place.
Rowan is very pleased with his wood stack. And our soon to be useful garden tools are now at the ready.

And finally, this piece of Rowan excellence. The washing line.
Yes Alan- they are your orchard ladders and some electric fence tape. Works a treat( until the ladders fall over).

Bathroom.

Two months ago we were busy insulating the bathroom and and wondering if it would be possible to finish the room before we moved in.

I think it is fair to say that it has taken a lot longer than I imagined it would. However , Rowan has done an amazing job of the bathroom.

Weekend by weekend he has been working away. It's a lot of fun watching it all come together.

We have a door. A tradme purchase- of course I was gifted the job of stripping 100 years of paint off the doors. Lucky my enthusiasm ran out so now we have this cool sort of half finished looking door going on. We actually love it!

Rowan finished the door architraves which look amazing. Rowan and Dad spent Saturday painting the bathroom, getting ready for the baby iron to go on the walls.

I DID do some painting. I did the second coat on the door frame- and then Rowan needed to use the brush.

And finally, I came home from work to find this. A bathroom playground. Rowan took the day off today to hand the baby iron. I feel like having more than two hands would have been helpful today.

Watch this space for the final bathroom reveal!

Rowan's been busy!

I'd like to say we've been busy- but that's just lies. Rowan has been busy and I've been... Keeping out of it.
I asked Rowan earlier, " can you do thinking and talking?" Because my idea of helping is talking and handing tools...
He said yes ...but I don't think he can.
So unless he's asks for help I leave him to create and think...
Which leaves me to talk to myself- and write blog posts.

Here's what Rowan's been up to this week.

It all started on Monday night with the orbital sander when Rowan sanded down the GIB stop. I knew this was happening because it vibrated the whole house. I also knew because of the thick cloud of dust that crept into the bedroom, then into the kitchen and lounge and settled in a layer over EVERYTHING. Of course I said to myself
"Lucky I love dusting"

On Tuesday it was a painting evening. I liked this because we got to have the windows open all night so we didn't drown in paint fumes from the undercoat.

Today we went for our return trip to Mitre10. We went to buy the architraves for the windows and doors in the bathroom. There are so many choices. We had to go back after we'd made a decision- Row had to do a lot of thinking about how it was all going to work out.

Rowan measured and cut the window frames... Only to realise he'd nailed them the wrong way!( maybe I had tried to talk to him while he was thinking?? ) although I'm still not sure about which way they should go.

So this is what it looks like when you pull them off the wall...

Now I don't want to put blame on anyone here but Sean, Tony, Alan or Brendon the door framing wasn't straight so Rowan had to 'pack out the frame' to make the door fit.

Yes Brendon- we just borrowed your level just for a little bit.

And here it is... The end result after a Sunday or sawing and sanding..
I didnt want to say anything about the state of the towels... So I just thought about it!!!
